Comments from Ramsay Classmates

12/31/00 Its great to see that so many people are doing well, and I'd love to see everyone. I've been out of touch for over 35 years. - Barry Hertz, '68, Hertzfam@aol.com

12/20/00 OK, now I can't believe that I can't get into the "Classmates Only" section. I know that the coach in the sixties was Reynolds and I've thought of everything we possibly could have called him; including "Pug", "Bulldog", and anything else that would have permitted me to enter this sacred site. But alas, to no avail-none of my password seem to work. So please LET ME IN!! I swear I went to school at Ramsay and graduated from there in 1963. I've enjoyed this site and would like to hear from more of my classmate-either from Glen Iris or from Ramsay, especially from the '63 class. Looking forward to being part of the "Classmates Only" "In-Crowd." Let me hear from you. - Janice Isenberg Blumenfeld, '63, mikie@netrox.net [Janice has been sent his nickname.]

12/17/00 I am probably best known as Jim Barnes brother! Although I did not graduate from Ramsay, it was and is the school I have the fondest memories of. - Wayne ( AKA TINY ) Barnes, Barnesgolf@aol.com

12/12/00 HI MISS EVERYONE FROM 77 THROUGH 81. EMAIL ME. Patricia Parsons Neiberger, '81, pneiberger@yahoo.com

12/04/00 Call me, write me, or e-mail me. I want to hear from all my old and dear friends from Ramsay. - Deborah (Debbie) McArthur White, '69, dteach7751@netzero.net

11/25/00 Greetings from Floriduh. I thought the election would come down to FL before we voted. Then, I thought my county would decide it. Later, it looked like my neighborhood might provide the deciding vote. Now, I think the President will be picked by the guy who wears my underwear! I'm really miffed. I voted 7 times and only 5 of my votes have been counted. You gotta love Gore. It would take too much time to hate him in the way he truly deserves. I'm amazed that a man who cares so much for counting every vote that may have been mispunched or underpunched or misread could be so callous in his concern for the overseas voters who had well intentioned ballots mismarked or unmarked by the delivering authorities. And not one cry from his camp to ensure that the voters in Republican strongholds cast their votes in a way that will be interpreted properly. With so many pregnant chads floating around, I expect Bush to reverse his position on abortion. These two men were not the best candidates available, so let's all get involved now with the process to ensure this doesn't happen again in 2004. Until then, may God and our senses of humor save us. Love to all. Even if you voted Sore-Loserman. - Joe Goldblatt, '66, goldgrp@aol.com

10/24/00 Nihao from China! Hello! My email was inacccessible for 3 weeks, and I have been on again since last Sunday. What's news in the education world? The outside world? There is a 30 minute news program in English every day, but I seldom see it. Some of my students ( adults, ages 23 on up ) want e-pals. Eleven are English majors; majority are in other fields - computer science, physics, accounting, chemistry, - everything. They'd like to correspond with teachers or others in fields related to theirs. Want to? Know others who'd be interested? This has been an awesome week. Many little things. Yesterday I received a box of school supplies that I mailed Aug. 2. So glad it wasn't lost. Postage from USA to here was $35.00. Mailed a birthday box to a relative. Incredibly expensive - won't be mailing boxes again. Postage is on the Amer cost scale, even letters. If I were on an Amer salary, it would be OK because of the exchange rate. Decided to drink my coffee with soy milk instead of water, for the health benefit. A grocery store makes it and always has a line of customers waiting. Plain soy milk doesn't suit my taste buds - I used to always buy the vanilla flavor. Thursday I went to the nearby Hot Pot restaurant with my tutor. She suggested we play hooky and go shopping after lunch. I love Hot Pot. It is so social, and a great way to eat vegetables. And the restaurant is warm, heated up with all those steaming pots on the tables. She took me to a market and bargained the price of wool longjohns down to 30 quai. That is awesome, compared to the 800 store price. I felt confident I could get some cheaper, but it takes a lot of patience and sometimes discomfort until the item is found. These are double thick. I wore them all day yesterday, with no tights under them, as a test. They never were prickly and itchy. I will go again and buy more, as my teammates want some , too, but we can't find the same place without the tutor. And Friday, I paid 10 quai at an expensive store for a pair of cashmere socks, which I haven't tried yet. My breath is very visible between me and the computer. If I didn't have the promise of heat coming, I couldn't last. A month of freezing temperatures without heat is a long time for a southerner. The sun isn't really bright, but it is out today. Wish my windows faced the sun during the winter. I bought an electric hand warmer last Tuesday. It lasts about 2 hours , and since we unexpectedly had no water this weekend (again) , meaning none for hot water bottles in the bed, I was thankful to have at least one source of heat. I have a lot of lesson prep for tomorrow. Best get on with it. - {Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.John Dewey} - Charlotte McCallum, '66, charlotte@mail.jlu.edu.cn

9/23/00 For those who could not hear me at the reunion, here are my comments made during the introductions at THE REUNION - David Meadows: Click here.

9-21-00 Dear Classmates, Carolyn Beckett Hodge class '63 died this afternoon. She lived in Huntsville, Al. Will give details later. - Janette Spencer Wells, '65, dwells1610@aol.com

9/21/00 Betty McCall Palmer...I can't get your e-mail to work. - Mike McClellan, '66, mikemc@telepak.net

9/21/00 Still searching for words to describe the reunion...super will have to do for now...renewing old friendships...making new frienships...maybe this was a "fountain of youth'...I have been grinning for over a month now and may grin forever...twilight looking over Birmingham from the deck of "The Club" was a real thrill...most beautiful city I've seen...is there such a thing as too much fun? Challenge...keep in touch with your old classmates! - Mike McClellan, '66, mikemc@telepak.net

9/21/00 Hmmm... took me 35 years to find you, but I hope to make the next re-union. - Michael Davis, '65, mjdavis@ghgcorp.com

9/10/00 Many, many thanks, David, for the wonderful job you have done with this web site and for all the hard work you and the rest of the members of the Reunion Committee did for the those of us who were unable to be of any real help. Both nights were absolutely wonderful! Thank you, Jeffrey, for the use of your building Friday night and thanks, Peggy, for all your hard work bringing it together. My brother, Ross, is clueless about computers (I don't know much either!) but he wants me to tell everyone what a great time he had and to thank everyone for getting us all together again. Everyone one looked great and it was so much fun to see each of you! I know I missed speaking to so many people and that's the only thing I regret. But, to everyone, thanks for the memories....Ramsay held a lot of wonderful people. Take care everybody. Till, hopefully, a next time. - Ceil Copeland Hamilton, '67, ceil@alaweb.com

9/04/00 Just received the Duke Rumore CD's from Randy. They're terrific - took me right back to the reunion three weeks ago and then to those glory days at Ramsay in the 60's. Really fun to listen to them while reading the tribute to Duke Rumore. I highly recommend you all order them. The Ramblers CD is also great and I'm just a dancing fool listening and rockin' to all these great tunes. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the remainder of summer. Bobbi Smith, '65, Bjsoxx@aol.com

9/04/00 I think it would be nice to hear what the people I graduated with are all doing now. I did not a lot of friends in the class, probably because I was so shy, and was married at 17, but I would to hear from some of them. I did talk to Guy Brown once but other than that......O. Come on people TALK TO ME....-Betty McCall Palmer, JANUARY 1962, bpdancer@bellsouth.com

9/01/00 How Cheesey! - Shelia Hogeland Pickett, '64, shpickett@prodigy.net

8/31/00 Thanks for the memories. It has been great to reminisce with so many, particularly by internet(THANKS,DAVID). Thanks to the reunion committee for a great job. And the music was wonderful. - Jamie Cantrell, '65, bigfoot48@aol.com

8/31/00 I would love to participate in a reunion. I have no knowledge of any for the Class of 1951 having been held. - Virginia Dodson Halbrooks, '51, Vhal4Quix@aol.com

8/31/00 Hey, track 11 of the Rambler Reunion Band, who was playing those wonderful licks, Tommy? Yes. I feel great, singing along and playing AIR GUITAR with THE RAMBLERS WOW!!! - Don Hogan ,'65, hogan@futuresouthe.com

8/28/00 I can't tell you how special it was to be a part of the class of '65 reunion even if was just as a little sister. Since I was old enough to pay attention, I have enjoyed the music and dances that my brother Bobby was sweet enough and patient enough to teach a nagging little sister. He never taught me the Alligator, though. Wonder why??? I guess he wanted that one all to himself. For those of you wondering, he'll still be able to do it at the 50th reunion. No doubt. I shared with a few of you how I use to be in awe of all of you. I use to get out Bobby's annuals and just dream of the day I'd be at Ramsay, but Mom and Dad had other plans when they moved me to Atlanta in '65. I still came back to be with my class of '69 for many years - to games, dances, fraternity and sorority parties. I just never got Ramsay out of my blood. It was like a dream-come-true to be a part of that once again at the reunion. A special thanks to James and Guylene Jackson, Ronnie and Sharon Shaddix, Greg Wilson, and Guy Cox for making the weekend really special for my sister Karen, Bobby and his wife Laura, and me. I am all in favor for a combined reunion that would include the classes of '68 and '69. I would also be interested in a reunion of McElwain Elementary if anyone else is. Reunion Committee, thanks for making all of this possible. You are the greatest. Oh, yeah. I'll pay for a video of my brother doing the 'gator if anyone got it. My video recorder was on the fritz, and I'd love to show our mother what her son was up to that night. She's a dancing fool, too, at 77 years young. - Janet Fitts Hanson, '69, janwayh@aol.com

8/28/00 David, you are doing a great job. This means a lot to someone who has lost contact with some very important people in her life. My husband cannot believe that my "crazy" brother went to a class reunion and I finally sat in front of a computer. He's probably going to regret it! Many thanks to you and all others involved. - Lynne Mammen, '61, (sister of Dee Lewis), sherlock@mtco.com

8/27/00 Visited Birmingham in 1966 and 1997. 31 years is much too long--Lakeview was gone(my husband found it)--My wonderful memories will not allow that underpasss and playground to go with the times! Thanks to whoever for keeping Ramsay as I remember it! Living in the "boonies" and loving it! - Lynne Lewis Bolger-Mammen, '61, sherlock@mtco.com

8/27/00 David, Great web page. Add the class of 1969 too. Saw some Ramsay graduates at a wedding yesterday and shared the idea of doing a 1960's reunion. Hope there will be interest in this in the near future. Love hearing from old classmates. - Denise Blum Lewis, '69, Dbl50@aol.com

8/27/00 I am still smiling! So sorry to hear about Dawn & Danny. Thank you so much to each of you who made the reunion possible. Sign me up for the next one. I wouldn't miss Bobby Fitts for the world. - lynn jordan smith, '64, lynniejj@aol.com

8/26/00 My brother Gerard was in the class of 1966. I have enjoyed reading all of the comments. I hope next time the reunion will include all of the 1960's. My husband, Wayne Lewis was in the class of 1968 and I was in the class of 1969. We have not had a reunion since the 20th year. We have $$ left in an account for a future reunion but no one has arranged for one. So please email me and I will help with the next one and maybe we can include all of the classes of the 60's. Thanks.Denise Blum Lewis class of 1969. - Denise Blum Lewis ,'69, Dbl50@aol.com

8/26/00 Sorry I missed the reunion. May and June weddings. - Randall Stoner, '67, rrossl@bellsouth.net

(OLDTIMERS SETTING IN I GUESS); THE CASTLE-LIKE ENTRANCE AS YOU WALKED UP THE U SHAPED STAIRS IN FRONT OF RAMSAY; SITTING BEHIND JOHN MORRISON AS HE BLOCKED THE FAN ON THOSE HOT, SWELTERING DAYS WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING; THE DARK, COOL, LOCKER LINED HALLWAYS; PRAYER IN SCHOOL EACH MORNING; ASSEMBLY DAY; SEEING OLD FRIENDS AND CATCHING UP ON LIFE; ENJOYING THE COMPANY AND CONVERSATION WITH THOSE I DIDN'T KNOW SO WELL. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE MEMORIES AND BEING A PART OF WHO I AM TODAY. I AM AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT A SPECIAL EDUCATION CENTER BASED SCHOOL IN THE METRO ATLANTA AREA IN A COUNTY CALLED GWINNETT. 8/25/00 Two weeks later and I am still smiling. It was so much fun to be with friends from years past and reflect on all those great times and catch up on the new times. I did not realize how many people were there that I wanted to talk to and missed. I guess we need to do it again soon so we can get to speak to everyone. Thanks so much to the reunion committee for all their hard work and great success. Tony Skaggs, '65, Tony.Skaggs@xrxgsn.com

8/23/00 I had the best time. It was so enjoyable to see so many people that I have not seen at all in 34 years. I only wish I had looked through a year book before the event. I am very happy to report that I have no grandchildren unlike several others that I had the opportunity to visit. I also want to report that Miami is not as terrible as many of you suspect. It just lacks a little southern charm. Thanks again for a great night. - Pat Vance Pankow, 66, pavp822@AOL.com

8/22/00 I am 3,000 miles away, but the fun and glow of the reunion is still with me. It is so powerful to see and spend time with old friends and important people from your past. I will have the hugs, smiles, memories, and kind words with me always. I realize that there were many people that I didn't get to see on Sat. night, and I missed a few dances; so, why don't we have another one?! I don't think that we should wait 15 more years because I'm not sure that Bobby Fitts would still be able to do the Alligator! I will be happy to do whatever I can to help make it happen; somebody be sure to save the data base! Many thanks again to the committee for giving us all a wonderful gift. David, thank you for this website; it has added so much to the success of the reunion and has given me much joy to be able to reconnect in depth with old friends. Randy, special thanks to you for the great CDs. The music was terrific on Fri. night, but it's even better now as I am typing this. I recommend ordering these! My son just brought home his high school senior pictures today; how did so many years fly by from the day that I brought mine home?! Deepest thanks to all of you who said that I hadn't changed at all from my senior picture! There's only one place you can go to get compliments like that--here's to the next reunion! - Barbara Brewster, '65, BB1ac2dc3@aol.com

8/22/00 Sounds like the reunion was a blast. Sorry I missed it, but we left on the 12th going to Destin for our annual vacation. We have a timeshare at Holiday Beach Resort. It's a time we can look forward to relaxing and not doing anythng we don't want to do. I married Enoch Canterbury in 1970 and we celebrated our 30th anniversary in March. I am currently working for BellSouth Public Communications (Payphones) on Bagby Drive in Birmingham. The website is great. I've been able to keep up with classmates that I have not seen since the 20th reunion. I hope the next one isn't during our vacation. - Ruth Palmer Canterbury, '65, rpcanterbury@webmail.bellsouth.net

8/21/00 Beam me up David, I could not have had more fun on Earth. A quote from Albert Camus: "In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." This was it, I was feeling 17 again and living and reliving those carefree years with all you wonderful people and still am. It must have MEANT something to all the people who took the time to make telephone calls, rearrange schedules, make hotel reservations, make airline reservation, get the car prepaired, look through old files for pictures, look at an old Rams Ring, email, answer email, find the old annuals, will my wife/husband care to come, all these things and more, just to spend a weekend with old friends. You, you are the result of what the RR2k commitee wanted. I only hope we can do it again, if only to relive: Frank Canterbury on Friday nights, Skinny Gardner on Mondays, Nick Ardillo anytime, Mrs.Gordon's fresh rolls and cherry pie, third floor, the 80? yard practice field, Electric Maid, 33 Mountain Terrace, 12 Highland, Danny Young on Fridays nights, James Jackson's kick, desegration, no jeans, no tennis shoes, only skirts, no A/C, yes sir, no sir, yes mam, no mam, Burger 'N' Hurry, Chevy 409, where were you when Kennedy, Boutwell Auditorium, Rickwood Field, Oporto, Eastwood Mall, PARKING on Altamont, going to an Alabama /Auburn game at Legion Feild, Driving to the Narrows or Bright Star, watching Mike Coffee sing "Chesnuts roasting on an open fire", Yon Koski, Phillip Alford, (Tommy Reeves, Freddie Braswell, Lewis Von singing those songs), (Chris, Johnny, Tommy and Van), Everett Hatcher (can I draw or what?), 45's, Dave Roddy, 20th Street, 9th grade, WYDE, Homeroom, Five Points South, Vulcan, Mr Alley, Mutt, Varnell, Ruth Scott Parker, Harrison, Shook, Porter, harp, etc, the license to drive, Bonanza, Twilight Zone, color TV, Cousin Cliff, Happy Hal Burns, George Fichtner at Channel 6 (no remote), manual typewriter and carbons (the best Ida Shunnarah), gas 29 cents, Birmingham city limits was Homewood, there WAS a Shades Valley HS, WVOK and the Summer Spectacular, our phone numbers started with LY, Tr, Al, Wo, Bear and Shug, Look and Life, indoor plumbing (just kidding), Dale's Hideaway, only one Golden Rule on 78 east past Irondale, and still THE CLUB. I cherish these memories and more because you are the best bunch of folks I have ever known. - Don Hogan, '65, hogan@futuresouth.com

8/20/00 David & Peggy & Reunion Committee, All I can say is thanks for inviting me and the rest of the Class of 1967. Everything was super! The only problem is you're not doing it again next weekend. Seeing everyone looking so good was great! The web site had alot to do with the success. Terrific job on everything! Len Burroughs, '67, lenbeco@mediaone.net

8/19/00 Okay, as usual, I'm a week long and a dollar short, but better late than never! To the committee: Excellent party, dude! Your hard work was greatly appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed by all. B'ham looks GOOD, and so does Ramsay, and by golly, SO DO WE! My daughter Emily so enjoyed the weekend, she can't wait for the next reunion! To Jack, Ward, Patsy, and the others who arranged the CLASS O' '64 party: GOOD ON YA! If any of y'all ever head to the REAL West, please let me know if you find it...Elsewise, if ever you get stranded in the wonderlang of DFW Metroplex, be sure and give us a holler! So let's party some more in 2004! HELLAM SUPERABAMUS (Look, Miss Fowler! Some of it took!) Love ya! - Say-rah Zuckerman Powers, '64, powers_house@msn.com

8/19/00 "Wow" is all that I can say a week after-- and I, we are still so high with thanks and appreciation to EVERYONE who made the reunion a succes. I can tell that we are going to stay close and in touch with each other and have another reunion in the near future (while we can still boogie)! The two nights were so special and I still didn't get to spend enough time with all that I had hoped to so watch out for e-mails - you that I missed. Debbie is still refining the digitals taken on Fri/Sat and Judy Haise at the B'ham news wants to put another group of four "rams" as a follow-up so be looking for it soon. B. Gresham sent us a "j-peged" photo that he had taken and we added it to the reunion shots and will try to add your favorites of the nights on our link. Take a look at the Rumore tribute for a walk down radio memory lane and last Friday night was the fulfillment of a dream I had 10 years ago when I first played publicly as a mobile D.J.---that is playing and continuing the music of our times for my friends! Best to all you great people-Randy McDonald, '65, macs_tracks@yahoo.com

8/18/00 Thank you very much for including me in this e-mail. I am so sorry to hear about Danny Short. My maiden name was Karen Weygand, class of '64. My brother Larry Weygand told me the reunion was a lot of fun. Sorry I was not able to attend. I live in Forida and my husband is ill so we did not try to make the trip. Please give my e-mail address to any interested old friends. It would be great to hear from them. - Karen Weygand Puffer, '64, Pufferkj@aol.com

8/18/00 Thanks for the information [about Danny Short]. I had knee surgery Tuesday and am just now reading my email. We are not promised tomorrow and we're not even promised today. We never know. Thanks, Danny (Dan) Curtis, '63, dxedan@aol.com

8/18/00 David, thanks for your message. You and the committee did a wonderful job for the reunion . If anybody wants a CD send $12 (covers shipping) to Johnny Robinson, P. O. Box 130901, Birmingham 35213. Checks should be made out to Johnny Robinson. Thanks again for all your work. I'm glad I got to meet you. Tommy Terrell, '63, terrelltommyt@aol.com

8/18/00 I hardly know where to begin-it was so fabulous!!! I've been in Atlanta visiting with Denise (we've had a ball of course)since our fantastic reunion and this is the first opportunity I've had to access a computer. What fun to read all the post-reunion comments! I'm returning to Connecticut tomorrow and find myself very reluctant to leave beautiful Dixieland. I guess I had forgotten after so many years how beautiful Birmingham is and how much all my Ramsay classmates mean to me. It was wonderful beyond my ability to express to be a part of this reunion. I was certain it could never live up to my hopes and expectations and yet the weekend went far beyond anything I had imagined. It still seems surreal that I was actually there and seeing so many old friends I had never thought to see again. I still can't believe I was actually with Monte!! We've been looking for each other for 30 years!!! David, you'll probably never fully know how much this website has meant to someone like me, so far out of the loop for so long, but you have my deepest and eternal thanks for all your incredible efforts. To Sue (It was so great to see you, Sue!) and the rest of the committee - Words can't express what a phenomenal job you did; it was totally perfect!! Count me in to help in any way I can for the next one - and PLEASE don't wait 35 years! The Club is still one of the most beautiful and unique spots in the world, The Ramblers were as cool as ever and the '65 party on Friday night was so much fun I'll need til the next reunion to recover. Everyone looks amazing - we really must have had the best-looking high school in America! To all those special people I was fortunate enough to spend time with, Denise, Monte, Mike, Greg, Becky, Tom, Susan, Barbara, Wayne, Pat, Suzie, etc, and especially Christopher, you will be with me in my heart always wherever I may be. Thank you. - Bobbi Smith, '65, Bjsoxx@aol.com

8/18/00 Dear David - What a wonderful time!! Thankee, Thankee, Bo, Bankee. What a GREAT reunion! The whole weekend was like a great big yummy hug!! The bummer is - now I'm gonna miss everyone all over again!! Love, Denise Weeks Stephenson, '65

8/17/00 To the committee I want to say thank you. You did a great job and I know all of your hard work is appreciated by all. To everyone else, it was great seeing everyone. The only changes I noticed in people were for the good. Hope we can do this again while we are still mobile. Everyone - take care! - Mary Lou Ganster Muir, '65, luluomt@aol.com

8/17/00 Thanks to the committee for a wonderful job! I enjoyed sharing with those I talked with Friday. Thanks for so many memories of Ramsay and Lakeview. It was a special day. I look forward to the next reunion. - Bill Ford, '65, meford@bellsouth.net

8/17/00 Dear David, I very much enjoyed the reunion. The organizers did an excellent job. Unfortunately, there were a number of people (who I was hoping to see) who were not there. Thanks for everyone's efforts. - Bob Coffman, '67, lrcmd@email.msn.com [The volunteers tried to locate everyone. A number of classmates could not be found or did not respond.]

8/17/00 David, I wanted to thank you for all the work you did toward making the reunion the ENORMOUS success it was. Your web site creation was the THING that I think made it happen!!! I know Jane, Randy, Diane, Doug, Jim and all the rest put a lot of time and effort into the planning and execution of the reunion and it showed!!! But the web page was the 'THING', so again THANK YOU very much for that you did. It was great seeing, being and working with you-after these 35 years. For a while I was back in high school and it was 'cool'!!! This internet/e-mail 'thing' is OK to--it helps lazy and cheap (no stamps for Thank You Notes) people like me, keep in contact with friends quicker and easier. So take care and keep in touch. - James Barnes, '65, jbarnes@shelbyed.k12.al.us

8/17/00 Dang it! Reading all the notes about the fabulous time that was had by one and all sure makes me want to kick myself for not making the extra effort to have been there. All the dues paid and all the poor quality events I have attended over so many years, and then to miss the really outstanding event of a lifetime.... However, thanks to this website and Joe Goldblatt's personal Emails, FAXes, and phone calls, I have at least enjoyed and felt a small part of it. We look forward to seeing the Class of '66 soon. Thanks one and all for your postings. George James, 1966, gmjcopter@aol.com

8/16/00 It seems we are going too young...Danny was a member of the elite...Rest in peace, Danny. - Mike McClellan '66, mikemc@telepak.net

8/16/00 Danny Short ('64) died of a heart attack Tuesday afternoon (8/15/00) about 5 p.m. He was in my session room 123 at Ramsay. I called him Saturday afternoon to fuss at him for not coming to the reunion Friday night and told him that a lot of his old classmates were asking about him. He told me that he would try to make it Saturday night. But decided not to attend. He had the 1st of 3 heart attacks Saturday night. At his home, in the ambulance and at Brookwood hospital. He was a food broker. Avid Alabama football fan and the Father on one son, named Dee. Unofficial funeral arrangements: Thursday night (8/17) wake service, Ridout's Southside in B'Ham. Funeral Friday (8/18). - Tony Milazzo, class of 64, W:995-5310, H:979-3765, tmilazzo@ascmni.ds.adp.com

8/16/00 I have enjoyed reading all of the "after the reunion" comments. Just as so many of you have said, I can't stop smiling. I don't think I ever consciously thought of how much all of my "old" friends meant to me - now I am so aware of these friendships. The weekend was great. It was so good to see everyone and I will continue to smile for many more days. Let's please try to keep in touch. Sue Fossett Wright, '65, Rite527@AOL.com

8/16/00 Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen and to all who attended who made it worthwhile. David, if you do nothing else in life, this website will be one heck of a legacy. No other single thing could have possibly brought so much love together for so many. I'm sure all attendees will attest to the fact that two nights was not enough. But, with the pre and post event use of this site, no '63-'67 Ram should ever feel out of touch. I'm astounded how unchanged some of you look. Janice Brown, Ross Copeland, Kip Fichtner, Paula Williams and Martha Wood look like they just stepped out of our yearbooks. I feel like I fell out of the yearbook from a high shelf. My biggest kick came on Friday night listening to Jim Seadler. I think the reason Jim is so big is because his body has to hold his heart and his heart is full of love and warmth for all of us and life in general. I know he is alergic to computers, so would someone who is close to him please tell him how much I love and appreciate him. Glad I got to spend extra time with: Debbie Hobbs (she is my best hope for getting a story that has been stuck in my head for years onto paper), the Weeks sisters and their hubbies (more MT & GA trips in the future) and Barbara Brewster (Wow, I danced with a gal from the class of '65...I'm not worthy). Thanks Marvin, for your comments. It means a lot and says a lot. Sorry I didn't catch up to Tommy Cosby, keep up the great work at the C of C. And, I feel safer knowing Jim Cantrell is with the FAA. That's it for now. Holler if you want to watch a Shuttle Launch with me from our dock or boat or if you just have extra bugspray and deodorant you need to use up. FL is the place to do all that. - Joe Goldblatt, '66, goldgrp@aol.com

8/16/00 Wow! I have been absolutely speechless for the past 48 hours! Imagine. Gotta tell ya, that was the greatest party I've experienced lately. It was such a hoot to see people I hadn't seen in over 36 years -- and y'all still looked the same -- fabulous! Okay. I gotta talk, now. I just finished spending the evening with Guy Forsyth, of Austin/International fame (he plays Ramblers/Ramsay/B'ham music, and is only 27 years old -- can you imagine?!?) He endeared himself to my heart the first time I heard him do "Oom Poo Pa Do" (as he quoted tonight, "And I won't start tryin' 'til I create a disturbance in your mind." How true! He took Randy McDonald's Friday night play-list (one of the best I've ever seen, and I was in radio a long time ago [KZZO-Clovis, New Mexico]), and as Duke would say, literally shouted, "I can't hardly belive it!" Far out, guys! For me, this past weekend was "awesome". You guys look great! And you still know how to boogey! I knew I "kept the faith" for a reason. I have been living all over the world, spreading the musical gospel of Ramsay and Birmingham for a long, long time; to witness this great party/musical event was [I'm searching for proper adjectives -- cathartic, catatonic -- hey, got it -- catapultic!!!] Man, my big sister and I were discussing the party about 2:30 at athe hotel, and the Big She-Ra (I can't believe how many of you people call her "Say-Rah" --wow) had to apologize for not wanting to come in the beginning and really making me feel bad about forcing her to do so, and she said, "Great Party! Class of '65 Rocks!" Bobby Fitts, Wow! Alligator Man! You look just like you did in High School, only better. Same to you, Greg! Actually, for a bunch of 50-somethings, y'all looked great. Once I could focus on someone's face, there was a friend from grade school or high school. It was awesome! Randy, when I showed Guy your Play List, he drooled. Great! The Ramblers CD is great. I'll play it for him next time. How can we get more? Also, Randy, did you burn any of the Friday night stuff? I would pay mega-bucks for the entire play-list. I have most of it, but it would take months to round it up and put it in the proper order. Let me know, okay? Great job! Also, Ramblers -- do you have more? I live in the "Live Music Capital [sic] of the World"; you're welcome to visit anytime -- any of you. I will put you up, or to work if you prefer. Fred, you look the same as in fourth grade! And I adore your wife! How wonderful! Friday night was too cool for school. And then, there was Saturday. Great venue! Great band! I'm so glad you invited all the classes, and people like me who didn't actually graduate but had to move away or something. Rock on!!!!!! I am PROUD to have been a member of the Ramsay High School Class of '65. I knew a lot of you, and I never forgot any of you. It was nice to see you. Ramsay High School Class of '65 Rules! -- ps., if you're ever in Austin, or want some music contacts, look me up. Great Party! Muchos Kudos! - Serena Zuckerman Verzhinsky, '65, muffingds@aol.com

8/16/00 Dear Friends, As I think back over the past weekend, the memories are overwhelming! The reunion turned out to be even more incredible than my wildest dreams. Wish I could have captured each moment to relive over and over! Thanks to all who supported the committee and especially the classmates who travelled to be part of the festivities. I am smiling with a tear in my eye when I think of all the love that surrounded us those two nights. To Don Hogan and the "limo group", I had a blast! Now that we have all "re-connected", please let's be there for each other and not lose touch. (Hey, I'm even crazy enough to volunteer to start working on the next one!) It's so true that "old" friends make the BEST friends. xxxx mebf - Maryellen Benton Franklin, '65, mebf711@hotmail.com

8/16/00 I HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE REUNION WITH MY SISTER, KATHY BURROUGHS DARNELL AND WITH MY BROTHER, JOHN BURROUGHS AND WIFE JEAN TOO BAD, I GRADUATED IN 1975. THANKS ---BETTY BURROUGHS, lewisdad@bellsouth.net

8/15/00 What a great Reunion! Thanks to the committee that worked so diligently to put it together. A special thanks to David and his wife, Sara, for putting the web page together. I know it was a catalyst for the '65 class. I know it was difficult for you at such an inopportune time, and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say you're special people and we love you for it. The reunion served to verify certain memories that I have. Ramsay High School still has the best-looking girls in the world. I got my picture made with Martha Ann Wingo, who is right there at the top of the list! Frank Canterbury is still the best high-school football player I ever saw. Of course, most of the time I got to see the bottom of his shoes as he ran staight over me. We still have the closest bunch of friends ever assembled, and we've managed to stay in touch and we're still "crazy after all these years". The Ramblers are still the best band ever. T-Red can still go, can't he? Be-bopping Bobby Fitts can still do the "gator" with the best of 'em! A few things, however, disturbed me about the reunion. Many people made mention of the fact that I was, am not now, and, in fact, never will be, an excellent driver. Many people also seemed surprised that I am an elected official, a servant of the state, as opposed to a ward of the state. And lastly, many people seemd surprised that I actually sold tickets for drinks rather than trying to drink the well dry! I have some pictures to put on the web page and will do so soon. I believe the old adage holds true "the older you get, the better you get-unless you're a banana". I'm going to make sure that I stay in touch with many of you via the computer (as long as Patti's computer skills don't diminish). Love to all of you. I hope we can get together again soon. Pee Wee, '65, pdseibert@aol.com

8/15/00 My sister, Linda (Miller) Pearce, was at the reunion and said that I was listed as missing. I just wanted to let anyone who might remember me know that I am alive and well in Germantown, Maryland. Linda had such a great time that she just had to call and tell me all about it. I have lived in the Virginia/Maryland area for 35 years. Graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Business. I have two grown daughters, with two children each (ages 6 months to 9 years). I also have two stepchildren (one grown and one a Sr at the University of Maryland). My job is with a statistical research company and I work with costing/project management and budgeting associated with their contracts. I have been with the company about two years, after 20 years with another company doing about the same thing. A new house that we moved into a year ago this month and a job close to home that I love. Sorry I missed the reunion. Sounds like it was lots of fun. Life is wonderful! - Betty Miller Carpenter, '63, carpenb1@westat.com

8/15/00 The weekend of the Ramsay Reunion was wonderful! Thank you David, Randy, Diane, Doug, Mary Ellen and the entire committee for putting together such a great reunion, your hard work was evident and much appreciated. It was a such a joy seeing old friends. Thank you again! Pamela Keltner McDonald, '65, pmcdonald@pcma.org

8/15/00 Thanks to all those who helped make this last weekend a very special event. It was really great to have this opportunity to be reunited with so many folks that were and now continue to be a part of my life. David, the web site was truly a great use of technology and really added so many opportunities to laugh and reminisce even before our reunion. Thanks for all your hard work and effort to make that happen! - Ray Jacoby, '67, ray.jacoby@wcom.com

8/15/00 WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND!!! I sure enjoyed seeing and talking to all. I know I did not get around to everyone, there were just so many. Denise, Judy, Nora, Jane, Maryellen, Diane, Janette and all the rest of the girls; didn't they look great!? And the guys have latched onto beauties too. Seeing everyone having such a great time made me feel really good for helping to get you together. That Ross Copeland sure could burn some shoe leather on the dance floor. Here's a big THANK YOU to all. For you classmates made it a success in attending as much as the planners did. As I sit here pecking this out, I am listening to the band's CD. OH what memories! I can't keep my eyes dry. Thanks to everyone for your kind words for Sara and I. You all are important to me. Stay in touch. - David Meadows, '65, davidmea@bellsouth.net

8/15/00 Many thanks to the reunion committee for a great reunion weekend. I enjoyed seeing "old" friends and getting reacquainted with former classmates. I knew if my "cajun dance buddies" Jane and Randy were involved in the planning that it would be a big success. Randy & Debbie McDonald's pictures on their website help me relive the weekend over and over. Okay Jane, take the rest of the month off but we'll expect you to start planning the next reunion a.s.a.p. - Tony Milazzo, '64, tmilazzo@ascmni.ds.adp.com

8/15/00 THIS GREAT EVENT JUST SHOWS HOW SPECIAL THE CLASS OF '65 IS. THE NOTES THAT I HAVE RECEIVED PROVE WHAT CLASSY PEOPLE YA'LL ARE. I LOVE YOU ALL - FRED BUSBY, '64, FBusby@onealsteel.com

8/15/00 Thanks to all who worked to stage the event. It was first class all the way. Special thanks to Dawn, from the class of '63, who I know worked very hard. It was great to see everyone. I was plesantly surprised on how well preserved my classmates are, particularly the women. Ladies you looked beautiful. (Special kudos to one lady) Keep the communication open and stay in touch. I am already looking forward to the next time. - Larry Washington, '63, larry.washington@cplc.com

8/15/00 I had a wonderful time Saturday night playing with The Ramblers and visiting with old friends. The committee did a fantastic job of putting on an unforgettable weekend. Everybody looked great. We are very fortunate to have attended Ramsay High School. It was the best. Tommy Terrell, '63, terrelltommyt@aol.com

8/14/00 TO ALL!! What a Fabulous Weekend!!! You did an outstanding job in every way. There may have been a few physical changes, but everyone's heart has remained unchanged, warm & sincere. Thanks to all again. EMILE SHUNNARAH, '65, emile@bellsouth.net

8/14/00 My congratulations and sincere thanks to the committee for a fun and memorable reunion. I'm still smiling and laughing at some of my reunion memories. My love to the class of 1966. Be well and keep in touch. - Frank Kanelos, 1966, fkanelos@iopener.net

8/14/00 It was great seeing friends I have not seen in 30+ years. Also, I just wanted to thank all the people who worked on this reunion did a wonderful job. Emile and I would like to thank all of our friends at Ramsay for letting us join this reunion. We graduated from Woodlawn but our hearts have always been at Ramsay. Hope to see you all again soon. - Jimile Shunnarah, '65, tabreez@aol.com

8/14/00 Dear Classmates of '63-'67, Thank you for coming and making our reunion successful. I had more fun than I have had in years. It was wonderful seeing and talking to you. We really have a great and friendly bunch don't we? I apoligize if I was a camera pest to you.I inherited it from my Mom. Love to all, Janette Spencer Wells '65, dwells1610@aol.com

8/14/00 Summertime on the Southside. The men all looked fit & prosperous, and all the ladies are still beauties. Life is good! We are all fortunate to have had this opportunity to get reacquainted after too long a time. Many thanks to the committee. Let's don't wait 15 years for the next one. I'll even volunteer for the 40th. - Mike Lackey, '65, miklackey@aol.com

8/14/00 Many thanks to all the committees who made the reunion happen. And a special thanks to Fred Braswell for the great party room on Friday night. It was really great seeing everyone again - and The Club was a perfect place to gather- we had a wonderful view and perfect temps!!Did you all plan that, too?? David, we are especially thankful to you for all your hard work under the most difficult of times. We continue to keep your family in our prayers. - SUSAN JACOBY FOOZER, '66, SFOOZ@YAHOO.COM

8/14/00 What a GREAT weekend. Thanks to all who had a part in putting together this wonderful event, and may you have the enthusiasm to do it again - say in about 5 or 10 years, - why wait 35 years! I really enjoyed seeing friends I've not seen since graduation, some I went to grammar school with! What a great idea to include the other classes who were at RAMSAY when we were there. Thanks. Hope you can keep the website up, it is a great way to communicate! - Lynn Sedwick, Class of '65, LSedwick@Longselectronics.com

8/14/00 It was such an enjoyable weekend and I find myself looking foolish as I smile, thinking about something that was said or about someone I saw. To all of you involved in the planning...You did a great job. Peggy and Jane, thank you for allowing Merritt and me to make our plans late. Never again will I procrastinate about an upcoming reunion. It was wonderful to see so many friends that I hadn't seen for years, and to everyone who went to Lakeview, you have special places in my heart. I hate to wait until another reunion to see you. I think our spouses displayed wonderful senses of humor and were very patient with our old stories. Merritt is also glad that I made her attend. To those of you who were unable to attend, we thought about you and missed you. Thanks again for all the hard work. - Suzanne Parrott Brock, '67, sbrock@vestavia.k12.al.us

8/14/00 Hello all you Ramsay Ram people. It was a great time, to come back and see people that I had not seen in 36 years. It was a great time and Birmingham looked terrific and brought back so many wonderful memories. Thanks to everyone who worked to put this together and let's have another one soon. - Warren "Dee Dee" Lewis IV '64, wlewisiv@yahoo.com

8/14/00 My wife (Jo Ann Weaver - class of 66) and I both enjoyed Saturday night. Thanks to all of the committee members for all of their hard works. We both regret that we missed Friday night events. - DONALD BAKER, 63, BAKER70@BELLSOUTH.NET

8/14/00 It was really terrific to come back to B'ham and see so many of my classmates from Lakeview and Ramsay and see what fine people they had become and to hear about their wonderful families. I only wish I had had more time to spend. I wish you all the best in year's to come and hope we have another reunion soon. Thanks to everyone who worked to put this together and a special thanks to Ward Watson and his wife Mimi (pronounced "My-Mah" for keeping me in the loop and for their hospitality. Let me know if you are ever in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. Just some quick info for anyone that I didn't get to bend an ear with at the reunion: After growing up in B'ham and going 1 - 8 at Lakeview, I finished my freshman year at Ramsay and then moved to Wheaton, IL when my Father's business took him. I graduated from Wheaton Central H.S. (home of Red Grange, "The Galloping Ghost"), where I played football, baseball and wrestled (yes I was a "grappler"). I don't know why, but my classmates there named me "Bama". After Bear Bryan and Shug Jordon passed on me for their respective football programs, I found a home at Western Ill. U. where I played football and baseball and against all odds graduated. After college graduation, I worked in a maximum security prison as a Correctional Counselor for the State of IL. Later worked as a Vocational Counselor in high school systems north of Chicago, IL. I then went to work for an office products mfr. and worked in Chicago, IL and NY, NY, later transferring to Houston, TX where I met my first, last and only fantastic Wife, Adena Guyton Lewis, born and raised in Smithville, Texas. We later moved to Arlington, TX (the glue that holds Dallas and Fort Worth together), where we currently live. I am still in the office products industry. We have two terrific children: daughter Ginny, and son W.D. (Warren Lewis V), a senior and sophomore at Texas Tech Univ. - Lubbock, TX respectively. I will be glad to show you pictures of my Family anytime. I don't know if we will ever really get there, but we are dreaming about retiring in about 5 years and weigh anchor and set sail to the Carribean and Mediteranan and live on our sailboat and join up with friends of ours who are living the dream right now. I can visualize myself with a "ZZ Top" beard, pony tail (if I have any hair at all at that time), shorts, t-shirt, deck shoes, hat, sun glasses, and listening to Jimmy Buffet music (and the Rambler CD that I purchased at the reunion). I hope I haven't taken too much space and thanks to anyone who took the time to read this. Your classmate, Warren "Dee Dee" Lewis '64, wlewisiv@yahoo.com

8/14/00 What fun! Thank-you,Peggy and Jeffrey for Friday night and to everyone on the committee for Saturday. It was wonderful to see everybody(hello to those I missed) I was sooo excited I couldn't quit talking, laughing, giggling, and hugging. My husband says my jaws should be sore for a week!Loved it, and thanks again! - Greer Knapp Curry, '67, Curry@AOL.com

8/13/00 It's 97 degrees in the shade, there's an ozone watch in effect, and the pick up trucks outnumber SUV's on the freeways. Home-sweet-home. We left the 62 degree B'ham reluctantly this AM at 6:15 and pulled into our garage at 7:30. Not bad, considering the detours by UofA's campus and the $5.00 meal at the casino on the Mississippi. Great meal. It was dropping $60 in 10 minutes at the black jack table that got John. Well, it made for a brief stop. Kudos and muchas gracias to the organizing committee. Friday night was wonderful, but Saturday night was the best party I've ever attended. I don't know how y'all managed to orchestrate even the weather to perfection, but John actually picked up a newspaper and flipped to the classifieds. Now, wouldn't that be interesting?! Aaannnddd, I thought we all looked pretty good for 50 somethings! See you next time. Nora Crosby Coalson, '65, ncoalson@pdq.net

8/13/00 The reunion was wonderful, as you already know. I am so grateful to you for planning this up since I missed the previous reunion for my class of '64. It gave me some little pieces of myself I didn't realize were missing. - Lynn Jordan Smith, '64, Lynniejj@aol.com

8/13/00 What a GREAT weekend! On behalf of the Class of '67 I would like to thank the Class of '65 for including us in Ramsay Reunion 2000! Yes, we were the "youngsters" of the group and received lots of comments in that regard, but we really enjoyed getting a preview of how we will act, thanks to Aligator Man Bobby Fitts, when we are your age! There is hope for us or perhaps time for us to adjust accordingly! Seriously, it was so good to be able to see those from other classes and our sibling's classes that we had not seen in perhaps 35 years. Thanks to Jane and Mary Ellen for sitting around the pool and thinking up this great idea and then going to work to make it a reality. After all your hard work you are due another leisurely time at the pool...wonder what will come out of your next session? Being on the committee was fun as well as an eye-opener and hard work....but so very worth it, watching it all come together these past two days. I do hope in the future many others will join in the planning processes of each of their class' future reunions....the "moulding and becoming" makes the outcome so rewarding. Also to Jeffrey Bayer and Bayer Properties, the Class of '67 thanks you for the use of the beautiful Crescent Building for our Friday night party. We felt right at home in "Ramsay Territory". And to all of you who attended, making this weekend the huge success we had hoped for... THANKS for the Memories! Keep in touch! - Peggy Berndt McMichael, '67, PDrmBlvrs@aol.com

8/13/00 Good morning Ramsay Revelers! Getting ready to head back to Florida but wanted to thank all of you who worked so hard to make such a grand reunion for all. It was fantastic to renew old friendships and I know everyone had a wonderful time both nights. I will write more later but could not leave without saying thanks so much and wanted the committee to know how much their efforts were appreciated. Love to hear from any and all. Nancy Denty Onorato, 1967, mrdenty@home.com

8/13/00 Hi David!! Thanks for everything you did to make this the best party EVER. Some of us didn't get to sign up for a class picture. If you know where we can do that now, please let me know! Thanks a million! - Mardi Cosby Penuel, Marditeach@aol.com [Chech the website soon for info. on getting a class pic.]

8/13/00 If I ever had any doubts about my friendships that were formed in Alabama in the sixties Friday and Saturday (August 11 & 12) they were alleviated. When you feel the hugs and hand clasps after all these years you just know who your real friends are. I can't find the words to express my joy! - Mike McClellan '66, mikemc@telepak.net

8/12/00 Great Job ! Thanks to David,Jane,Randy,Diane,Sue,Mary Ellen,Jim,and all those who spent hours, days and weeks making this a great weekend and reunion. It was great to see all that were there, and I wish all of you a great life and good days ahead. John Morrison, '65, P.S. Don't forget to pull that lever for George Bush, and if you can't....... stay home..:-), Johnfmorri@aol.com

8/12/00 Reading all the names of the people on the list brought back a lot of memories. I ocassionally see a few of my classmates, but not many. I hope everyone had a good time. For those of you that remember me, hello. For those who not, I was a majorette, along with my sister Betty (Class of 62), in 1961. Once again, hope you all had fun at the reunion. - Barbara McCall Abercrombie, January 1963, jwandboo@bellsouth.com

8/12/00 For those of you who missed the B & A Warehouse, 1965 reunion last evening in Birmingham, we missed each of you. The crowd was overwhelming, the spirit of Ramsay present in every conversation, handshake, and embrace. This, my friends, is what makes our nation so great, we remember our past through present day associations. I cannot express how good it was to see each of you whom I discovered once again last night. Jane and I thank the committee for the work on this project and look forward to seeing each of you tonight at The Club. Please, if you have not submitted an e-mail address for this reunion, do so, in order that we can know your whereabouts and say hello to you again.Let us not forget all of those brothers and sisters who are deceased and missed by all this weekend. I thank the men and women who served our armed forces and gave their lives for our freedom and the opportunity to attend an event such as this reunion. I fondly revere those we spoke of last night, those who were no longer with us in body, but shone just as bright in spirit. God Bless. - Bill Gresham, '65, wpgresham@aol.com
