Comments from Ramsay Classmates

12/05/01 hey there!! i can't believe what a website we have! my husband decided to check out classmates.com and it sparked my interest when he started naming off people he knew. unfortunately i haven't really seen anyone from my class. i am specifically looking for a few old friends. My older brother c/o 84 and older sister c/o 86 went there and to be perfectly honest, having visited ramsay for many years once it was my turn it had already started going downhill. but anyone from my class will remember our sophmore year when Mr. Atkins stayed in the tower for an entire day. or our freshman year when everyone went on strike b/c the money intended for air conditioners went to lighting for the front of the school and as a result we all burned to death as did the previous "i don't know how many classmates" as a result with thosed hideous fans. THIS IS ALABAMA YOU KNOW!!! anyway, i have done alot of traveling all over the country (and out of country) and have come home to settle in Alabama. I am now 25 and have a 7 month-old daughter and 4 year old step-son. My husband is a master in ghor-chor kung-fu, chinese kickboxing and is developing his own style of martial arts. I am a full-time mom and am active in church. If Jerrilynn Sparks ever reads this...or any of the gang...please email me!!! I miss you guys!
Remember Ramsay Rules: and remember the old rhyme i modified for our class..i can't say i believe it anymore but just for old times sake:
Party hardy
rock-n-roll
drink bacardi
smokin bowl
sex is great
loves' a bore
we're the class of '94
Pretty bad that's a legacy...but that was us back then...hope youre all doing great and are successful at heart!!!
love ya

11/22/01 Hey yall! I can't beleive that the most wonderful and well represented class is not on this site. 2000 I have just found this site today and I think it's pretty cool. The school is doing some remodeling and I can't wait to see the finished product. Why didn't they do this when we were there? They wrong. Just want to give some of the best teachers a holla, Ms. Jackson, Ms. Blair, Ms. Ross, Mr. Kelly, Bob (although he is gone, we love him!) If any other class members run across this site, Hey. Bye. - Cornessa "CoCo" Samuels, '00, omnipitence@msn.com

10/21/01 I have 3 things I want to talk about. The first is about Ramsay High and the turbulent 60's. We lived it first hand, didn't we? Sometimes I look back on those days and realize I was Forrest Gump...right in the thick of things. As were most of you, I was brought up to be one of those "nice people" that would never say or do anything mean to black people. But the culture around us taught us to think of blacks as people not as smart, moral, or well-behaved as us, Bless their hearts, they couldn't help it.....Then I went to Ramsay in the 11th grade. And I got an education about black people. I think the one incident that has stayed with me my whole life was the day Martin Luther King was shot. It wasn't what anyone said, but how the black kids reacted at school. I could see the grief on their faces, and it made me rethink how I felt about Dr. King and how he preached non-violence.I saw how they were serious students, and how they conducted themselves. Some one said "I cannot hear what you say for what you do thunders so loudly." I guess that's true. So if you are one of those black kids from back then, know that you made an impression. Now here's the next thing. Like I said, I was new to Ramsay when I was a junior and I was a little shy and afraid that first year. My first week at school, everyone in my class was sent to the Nurses' office to get our eyes checked (or something...who can remember) I was sent in there the same time as Joe Tannory and Charles Vacarella. I was so intimidated. Charles and Joe were joking around and I wanted to laugh but I didn't dare draw attention to myself. What happened was - Charles leaned over to Joe and told him the reason they were there was because the nurse was going to show Joe pictures of necks, and he was going to get to pick one out. It was funny. Wish I'd laughed. Finally, by the end of Senior year, I didn't want to leave. I think of all the friends I made and I still think of all of you. Thanks to Miss Shell, I can "keyboard". We had a spend the night party at Bonnie Slay's house and went and got Miss Shell. The next morning, the whole class went to Cobb Lane for breakfast. I had fun being a Marshall 7th period with Sharon Autrey. Eddie Steadmen got kicked out of art every 7th period. I could count on it. I remember memorizing the first 36 lines to Canterberry Tales in middle English, and our English teacher (not Miss Johnson-the one across the hall) acting out the first scene to Macbeth. She was good. I still have Miss Callen's outline. I was going to teach History and knew a good teaching tool when I saw one. And I didn't even have Miss Callen for History. I still remember the school song. We couldn't pass Senior English unless we could say it. I wish the kids of today could go to school in the environment we had. 10/14/01 I truly enjoyed me experiences at Ramsay High School...great teachers such as Mr. Crenshaw, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Coman and Mrs. Hurlburt will forever be in my heart. Thanks for the memories!!! - Stephan W. Bridges, '90, stephan.bridges.jm6s@statefarm.com

10/01/01 This is great that alums of Ramsay, the greatest school in Birmingham, have a site to come and get reacquainted. Great idea, and great job with the sight. Keep up the good work. Chris Burrel, '98, clb2002@hotmail.com

10/01/01 My son, Jason, is a proud member of the United States Navy serving on board the USS Enterprise in the Persian Gulf. He was headed home from his second six-month cruise on September 11 when his ship was returned to the Persian Gulf. He is a member of the V-2 division and works in the "arresting gear" which means he catches airplanes when they land on the deck of the ship. I have only received one brief message from him since the attack as all correspondence is screened for security purposes. Please keep Jason and all of our service men and women in your prayers. They protect this country every single day -- not just at times like these. They deserve our thanks and prayers to bring them home safely. Jason cannot return your messages but welcomes any news from home. If you wish to send him your thanks, e-mail him at watersjm@enterprise.navy.mil - Zondra Hutto, '66, zhlaw@juno.com Have pictures of Zondra and son here.

09/28/01 Thanks for keeping this going; it is more than incredible! Cheers...'Skip' Hardenburg, '62, c.hardenburg@worldnet.att.net

09/28/01 I went to Ramsay for 2 1/2 years, I only withdrew, and home schooled, because I was always sick. But I love it dearly! - Ann Cholewinski, '01, groovy_chic82@hotmail.com

09/28/01 You have the right song for Ramsay...not that it means that much to those of us who graduated in the 80s and 90s. With no football team, and only an ocasional volleyball pep rally, there was little opportunity to hear it. We had a group of guys (including Scott Fleming and Brian Preston, heard from them?) who formed their own band. I remember one pep rally where the played this fight song, and their own unofficial song, "Word Up." - Andy Parrish, '89, APARRISH@bham.rr.com

09/27/01 I really was blown away with this web site. I wish I could have been at the reunion. I also wish more '69 grads would write. I am looking for Billy McPherson - anyone have his e-mail address. - John Erwin, '69, jwerwin@juno.com

09/23/01 All though I would have graduated in '48 I married a few months before graduating so I did not get to graduate with that class. My first husband died after 30 years of marriage and I remarried and lost him ten years later. I now live in Fl. Would love to hear from some of my friends from the past. 09/12/01 Hi guys! Being older than dirt, the "annex" was long gone for many of you. It was a building in back of the main school (music or such)and my memory is of a tall skinny girl who was a sister of one of my classmates. Her name was Louise and we would hide on the porch and smoke almost every day. Her father was a minister (Episcopal ? ) and either he or Louise's was totally deaf. She was an expert in "signing* and other forms of communicating with the hearing impaired (in the 1940's they were deaf). Never saw her after high school until I went to see "one flew over the coo-coo nest" and there she was......Nurse Cratchet !! - Bobby Jennings, '50, kappabobj@aol.com

09/04/01 We had a wonderful 20 year reunion and now we are organizing our 30-year celebration!!! (Can that actually be right ... 30 years? ) If interested in helping find classmates for the 1972 graduating class, please write to me. - Liz HANSEN Entrekin, '72, LizEntrekin@aol.com

09/02/01 I didnt go to Ramsay, I left Glen Iris school, in 1959, we moved to Ca. but i wanted to find some friends that i left so many years ago, and i thought i might could find them, there. Thank you Sandra Shelton Doran, Sandrasmailbox@aol.com

08/31/01 I think of Ramsay and friends almost every morning while watching channel 13 news. There in the backdrop is Ramsay. I'm sur my kids are tired of me always telling them that's where their Daddy and I went to high school! - Mary Alice Sheppard Nelson, '72, MaliceN@AOL.com

08/28/01 Sorry it took me so long to get registered on here. I have some great pictures of the July 28th, 2001 reunion. Get in touch if you would like to get some of them. I'll be putting a few on here just as soon as I have time. - Page Ribe Stratton, '70, pagerr299@aol.com

08/28/01 We the students of Ramsay High School thank you for this website. Also, we, the people on the yearbook staff would like the name of the person who took the picture on the first page. Thanks!!!!!! - Ashley Tarrant, '03, smata72@aol.com

08/27/01 I wanted everyone who attended the recent Class of 1970 reunion to know that I delivered the big birthday card to Coach Reynolds. He seemed truely happy to have received the card and was very interested in getting an update on the people who got a chance to sign the card. He had recently been released from a 3-week stay at Brookwood Hospital, but he was in good spirits and very sharp mentally. We should all hope that when we are 81 y/o we can be as clear-headed as coach. He lives at Somerby, an assisted living facility across from Samford University. His brother lives there, also. I told coach that we all loved him and that he had meant so much to all of us, even if his lessons on life came in the form of a kick in the rear on the practice field or a paddling at "court" before practice. He really did look good, but he has a little trouble getting around and has to use a walker. He was relating to me a story about his stay in the hospital and he said that some of the other patients were half crazy "in there now..." Man, some things just never change!! Anyway, if you get a chance to go by and see him you will be glad you did. - John McRoberts, '70, jmcroberts@cannongatepartners.com

08/22/01 My twelve year old son, Brian, was kind enough to point out that since I graduated from the 12th grade 37 years ago in 1964 that if people continued going to school in June of 2001, I would have finished the 49th grade (12 + 37) and would be ready to begin the 50th grade. Isn't that refreshing to know? Here's wishing all of you a good evening!!! - Barry Hertz, Class of 1964, Houston, Texas, '64, Hertzfam@aol.com

08/21/01 As a student at Ramsay, I enjoy viewing wonderful things about our school. I will graduate this upcoming year. I really enjoyed reading the memories people had to share. Continue to keep up the good work! - LaDara Lee, '02, LaDara324@aol.com

08/19/01 I had many good memories of Ramsay and my time spent there. Some of my best related to my time spent doing photography and working with the Annual, and working with Frank Couch to produce one of the slide shows that we put on for the student body. Now that I am a father of two (soon to be three), I am becoming introspective about my life and where I came from. Ramsay certainly played a big part in how far I have come. I hope to see more entries in the future from those people who attending Ramsay in the 80's. Thanks for the website, David, and the memories that it stirs up. - Todd Cagle, '86, tcagle@aimco.com

08/19/01 I registered earlier...didn't realize that I could add elementary school to the information. I attended Center Street Elementary in Birmingham. I also want to commend the developer and maintainer of the Ramsay High website. It is absolutely terrific---the music, the databases, forms, the photographs! Great job! I also understand that there was a recent Ramsay reunion for Classes '67-'71. Wish I had know about that...how was this publicized. Interested in getting details on upcoming events and the feedback on the recent 2001 reunion. Thanks. - Shandra Jackson Smith, '71, shandra.j.smith@worldnet.att.net

08/17/01 Am so interested in seeing pictures of the class reunion of 1967-1971 that was in the end of July. Your website for Ramsay is wonderful. Linda Whitfield Tidwell class of 1970

08/15/01 Thanks to all who organized the reunion. I had a great time seeing old friends. I am back home in California, but I still have family in Birmingham and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again soon. Thanks for everything, Donna [Naramore] Liggan, '70, dliggan@msn.com

08/09/01 Does anybody remember the local band "Just Us"? I'm still playing drums, rock lives!!!! - David M. Gingold, '71, dgingold@dmg-tech.com

08/09/01 I was just musing about how my "generation" is supposed to be the technological generation, but I seem to be among the few when I search for any other electronically-abled individuals from my class or too many from after my class. All I see here is a lot of people who graduated in the 60's and 70's who seem to be more techno-abled than my peers. It makes me sad. Sooooo sad. But, to all of you out there who actually got into the technical age, I say, MORE POWER TO YOU!!! Got to keep up with the times. But , I would like to say how dissapointed I am that this site seems to be dedicated to anyone who graduated BEFORE disco was dead. Thanx for the laughs though!! - Trevor Rainwater, '92, lobo@threeheadedtoad.com

08/07/01 Thanks to the Class of 1970 Reunion Committee!!!!You did a great job! We had a good time at the reunion Saturday, July 28. It was exciting to talk to all of us that graduated that year and to see those that were a few years older and younger. If you didn't make it to this reunion, plans are already in progress for the next one. Let Margariette (Miller) at hoomesm@home.com know how you feel about having another reunion next year. It was really good to see that everyone could still dance especially BUBBA and have a good time. The girls really had fun kicking up their heels! Contact anyone you know that was in our class and let them know about the plans.Let's make the next reunion the best one yet. - Linda Whitfield Tidwell, '70, tidwelll@hotmail.com

I have a wonderful life with one child and a great husband. Although I didn't marry until I was 32 I found Mr. Right!!! Hey to all from good 'ol Ramsay High especially those of us that sweated through that HOT day for graduation. I still have my graduation dress but it doesn't fit. Remember how TWIGGY skinny I was???? Well I've finally blossomed!!!!Life has been good for me. I finally married at the age of 32 to a very nice COUNTRY Boy. We have one daughter, TNT, that is 11. I retired in May of 2000 with 26 years experience as an elementary teacher all at Susan Moore High School at Blountsville, AL. I taught 2nd grade for 16 1/2 years but left that grade when I had a class size of 34 kids! Then I spent the rest of my career teaching remedial reading and 6th grade. Our family owns several businesses including Jerry Tidwell Construction and Addison Truss Company. We also have three broiler chicken houses (uck!) Now how many of you have ever DUMPED CHICKENS? (Remember I grew up showing horses and giving all those hours of riding instructions) I can't wait to see everyone at our class reunion on July 28. In the meantime we're busy preparing our home for our first exchange student from Germany. I understand that several of my classmates have already had this experience and I welcome any comments and helpful hints for this experience. 07/06/01 I do not see too many people from class of '69 where are they? I just found your sight today. I was curious if there is any chance of obtaining a copy of the 1969 yearbook or at least a more complete list of students. I have lived in California for the past 20 years and have not been able to contact old classmates. Also there are very few listed on your site. If there is any more information available other than your web site, please let me know. I still have family members in Birmingham and occasionally get to visit every few years. Thanks for any info. - Robert Pugh, '69, spidermansb@earthlink.net [How about it, class of '69? Can you help Robert?]

6/14/01 Barbara, Trent, Richard, Dee, Charlie and others put on a wonderful reunion for our classes in April -- I'm still e-mailing people, and thinking about it (and of course, listening to the incredibly suggestive tunes supplied by Richard P -- unlike anything we hear today, right?....Friday night's party was such fun -- people like Ed Donoho, who seems to have stepped out of the yearbook. Others not quite so recognizable, but once you started talking, you could see the kid you used to know. Lots of people I went to school with at Lakeview too; seeing classmates just tugged on my heart. Did manage to have a few long conversations, but I found myself running around trying to be sure to see everyone, wishing for more time. On Saturday, I took a long walk around the English Village neighborhood with a Ramsay friend; I discovered my ugly apartments still there and his house designated "historic." As are we! Got to Ramsay late, but just in time to walk by the "girl's sickroom," where we used to nap for a while -- I would never have remembered that. The Saturday night party place was perfect -- enough room to talk, and drag poor Jimmy V. out on the dancefloor. I hold precious the time with Lois, Mike, Lynne, Joe, John, Joan, Jimmy, and so many others. The hosteses were too busy to socialize and I thank them for their hard work. I know we've all gone though a lot in 40 years, but it didn't matter much when we were together. I"ve been in Denver since 1976, and I love to come back to B'ham, especially in the spring. I'm pretty sure the class of 1962 will be having their 40th next year and I say let's hop on theirs, let them do the work, and get back together again next year. Thanks to David for doing this Website; perfect way to gather us all up. I never thought our four years at Ramsay were the best of my life...but I love seeing old friends. To next year....Diane Lawrence Hartman, '61, dianeh@cobar.org

6/13/01 Again, I enjoyed the last reunion so much, that I will eagerly look forward to the next opportunity for us all to get together. My older Sister, Lynne Lewis, recently attended her Class '61 reunion and also had a terrific time! Although I am in Texas, let me know what I can do to help put the next one together. The sooner, the better! Regards, Dee. - Warren "Dee" Lewis IV, '64, wlewisiv@yahool.com

6/13/01 The site is terrific. My sister attended the last reunion for the '60-61 classes and had a great time. Our '62 class has done the reunion thing several times, but there aren't a lot of us on your site. Hope more will check in! Thanks again for the website...Charles "Skip" Hardenburg, '62, c.hardenburg@worldnet.att.net

6/11/01 You sure are doing a great job and the site has provided me with many hours of enjoyment. Will send $ to keep it going. - Lynne Lewis Mammen, '61, russlynne@dotplanet.com

6/10/01 Just got your "e". I'm glad you wrote. I had not looked at the Ramsay Website since before the reunion. You all are doing a great job keeping the news up to date. I thought the photos were terrific. Ron and I had such a good time at the reunion, renewing old friendships and meeting so many new people. I know it took a lot of work putting together all the details but it really was a great time!! Putzie Wright, '64, putzie@magicnet.net

6/10/01 I have really been enjoying the web page. When do they plan on having another reunion for the Class of l965? I am really sorry I missed the last one. Thanks, Reva Greenberg Abramson, '65, abrams600@aol.com

6/10/01 what a special way to spend a rainy sunday afternoon. so sorry we(ken and I) weren't able to come to reunion. hope there will be another, looks like all who did make it were having a great time. not a wrinkle, tummy, or gray hair showed up on my computer, just a bunch of "antique kids" having fun...... - jane mccain krebs, '60, luckykrebs@aol.com

6/10/01 A couple of items you all might find interesting: Erskine Ramsay had a "quirk"- he did not like pointed corners on papers, so he had his secretary and assistants take scissors and round the corners of any paper before they gave it to him. Back in the 53-54 school year, someone noticed that Fred Sington seemed to wear the same pair of pants every day. At that time, the biology lab was in the corner of the main building closest to the covered walkway to the annexes. This individual, who shall remain nameless, put a sign up in the lab window, so everyone coming to the main building from an annex would see it, saying "Fred Sington has worn the same pants___ straight days". Each day the number in the blank would go up one. Sorry, but I can't remember how high the number got. - Dick Vaughn, '57, dickandmarg@pcola.gulf.net

06/08/01 HI EVERYONE, IF I COULD RECOGNIZE ANYONE IN THE PICTURES, IT WOULD HAVE REALLY MEANT A LOT. BUT WE HAVE ENJOYED VISITING THIS SITE. IT'S AMAZING HOW TIMES GOES BY AND YOUR MEMORY BECOMES A BLANK AND NAMES AND FACES ARE A BLUR! HOWARD SHANKS WE READ YOUR LETTER IN CLASSMATES.COM BUT IT WOULD NOT LET US INTO YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS, SO SEND US A MESSAGE. CAROLYN AND LESLIE IS IN BIRMINGHAM, LAST WE HEARD MIKE IS IN MICHIGAN AND MARTIN WE DON'T KNOW. WE'RE STILL HERE!!!!! - lucia threeton barrentine, '64, eLucia@webtv.net

06/06/01 Let's have a reunion soon. - Bob Snider, '57, swiftpilot@home.com

06/06/01 I was not able to attend this '60 and '61 reunion. But I might have gone the extra mile to drive down for part of a day if my brother had told me he was coming before the day before the event. Looking at the pictures, there he is. Jim, having a ball. He did not even drive less than an hour to see me! What a great job you have done with this site! I stayed up most of a night looking at the reunion pictures. I hope there is another combination reunion before too long. So sorry I missed it! - Carolyn Rollins Darden, '60, carolyn@darden.net

06/05/01 I have just moved back to Birmingham after 23 years. I lived in Kentucky for 21 years (Lexington and Danville). I retired from Kentucky Utilities Company in 1998 and moved to Knoxville, TN to work for Environmental Engineering company. I continue to work for this company but now work out of my home. I travel to Power Plants and other "air pollution" sources all over the US. Would love to hear from some of my classmates of '59, now that I am back home. We have had some great reunions, and need to get together again soon. I am willing to help. I enjoyed visiting your great reunion with my sister Edna McNutt '60. My brother, Hershel McNutt graduted in '61. You did a great job with your reunion, and I enjoyed seeing all of you. I am continuing to enjoy this website. Really good job! Class of '59, where are you? - Amy McNutt Gilkey, '59, agilkey@bellsouth.net

6/4/01 Charles Boyd Stroud, Ramsay '54, announces his wedding, on May 25, 2001 AD. A beautiful celebration was held Sunday, June 3rd, at The Baptist Church at Lay Lake in Columbiana, AL. Charles is the Director of Missions of the Southern Baptist Church for Shelby County (AL), and is the Interim Pastor for the Church at Lay Lake. Charles and Mildred will be at home in Riverchase, AL.; cstroudsba@aol.com - Robert M. Cosby, M. D., '63, jvpoa@juno.com

6/3/2001 David, The website is great! What a super idea! Since I found it, I have enjoyed sharing it with others, as well as enjoyed it myself. I happened to notice a number of names (the ones I know) missing from the deceased list. You may want to add them. They are: Mitzi Hodo Hinde '59, Ruth Rector _?_ '60, Don Davis '60, Ronnie Norman '60, Dorothy Chambers '61, Billy Joe Thomas '59, Sue Shelton _?_ '60, Bernie Gause '59, Don Christie '58, Louise Parler Galloway '58, Troy Sizemore '57. It's hard to believe there are so many, and I am sure, sadly enough, that there are others. Thanks so much for helping to keep us in touch. - Jane McLaurine Trammell, '60, jtrammell7@mindspring.com

05/31/01 I owe a big thank you to Charlie Green for sharing info on the web site. It was such fun looking through pictures and revisiting the reunion. My only regret is that I viewed pictures of so many people whom I never saw the entire weekend. How I wish that I had had the opportunity to hug every neck there and hear what has gone on in each life since we last saw one another. What a wonderful group of friends we had! We just need to do it on a regular basis. What better way to turn back the hands of time and feel sixteen years old again?!!! Of course, none of it would have been possible without the dedication of our fine chiefs: Richard, Barbara, Trent, and Dee. Thank you ever so much! I, for one, volunteer to be one of their Indians next time. And David, the web site will serve to keep us together in the meantime and make it easier next time. Then there was Richard! What a lasting contribution he made to the occasion! All of us will enjoy the CDs for years to come. However, I'm not sure that I will ever view our music in quite the same way. I somehow preferred the naivite with which I enjoyed the music then. I guess I never got past my sixteen-year-old mentality in that regard. My best to all as we cross over that big 6-0 timeline. I REFUSE to feel it! Jane McLaurine Trammell, '60, jtrammell7@mindspring.com

05/30/01 Sorry I missed the reunion in April. I had other plans. The pictures of the reunion were great.Just seeing so many classmates again made my day.If we have another get together you can count on me being there. How about next year? We are not getting any younger. - ken mccain, '60, lilimac42@hotmail.com

5/27/01 Sorry to see those on the "Deceased" list.Glad to see I'm not! - Michael Knight, '62, mknight@bellsouth.net

05/27/01 I am looking forward to seeing all my old classmates. It's been a while. - Lawrence King III, '70, lkiii@juno.com

05/23/01 It has been so long since I've seen a lot of my classmates. I have so many fond memories of my time at Ramsay High School. I was Miss Freshman is 1971, was a Cheerleader from 1971-1975 and was a member of numerous school clubs and organizations, including Editor of the school newspaper. My academic and extracurricular activities were the best. The Principal, Mr. George Thomas was great, and one of my favorite teachers, Mr. Howard Dixon, was outstanding. We had the best football, basketball, baseball and wrestling teams in Alabama, not to mention one of the best bands around. Ramsay, I'll never forget you. Can't wait for our next reunion. - Vanessa Dudley Spencer ,'75, vanese2@msn.com

05/23/01 I think what you have done is wonderful. Both of my brothers have passed away and were Ramsay grads, I'm not sure when they graduated, they were 10 and 12 years older and I graduated in 1960. Their names were Dr. Robert (Bob) Whitten and William (Bill) Whitten. Also, my husband of 29 years, Ray Rochell, died 12 years ago and graduated when I did. Maybe all could be added to your Celebration list. The entire web site is marvelous. Thank you - Linda Whitten Hanback, '60, linda_hanback@hotmail.com

05/11/01 I would like to know about the Ramsay football team of 1939. Names of players and name of Coaches. I would like to know any information about Coach White. - Kenneth Powers, '39, grey_wolf9@yahoo.com

05/09/01 First, I want to thank Barbara Chapman and all her committee for doing such a great job with the '60-'61 reunion. I'm sorry I missed the pre-parties and the tour of Ramsay, especially the cartwheel that Jeannie did. Wish I were as in shape as you are, Jeannie! It was great seeing classmates again, but there were many that I didn't see that I would have liked to see again. I hope our next reunion will be our "50th", not 51st or 49th. We need to plan a date 2 years in advance so that everyone can mark their calanders and BE THERE!! We should all be retired by then, so there should be no excuses if we are well and alive!! LET'S GO FOR IT!! WHAT DO YOU SAY CLASS? Richard? It's only 9 years away. I'll help. - Marie Shunnarah Salem, '60, mnsalem@aol.com

05/09/01 Contrary to what I wrote when I first registered I was in the class of 1964, not 1968. I wish the best to everybody, and I hope to get back to visit Birmingham soon. I've only been there for one short visit (1992) since 1969. - Barry Hertz, '64, Hertzfam@aol.com

05/05/01 I told a friend about the web site this morning. She went to it immediately and was dazzled by it all. It really is amazing what you have done. - Barbara Chapman, '61, BChapman43@aol.com

05/02/01 Would like to hear from classmates. - Bill Knox, '63, bknox@onfiber.com

04/24/01 Thanks so much for all your hard work in putting this web site together; it is great to be able to go to it and reminisce about younger days. I graduated in '61 and am looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends at the reunion Saturday night. Also, I'm looking forward to the Glen Iris reunion; Mike & Claudia and the gang have really worked hard on it. I'm trying to help by finding some of the grads in my class or others that I remember. One person that I'm trying to find is Mike Cochran; his mother and my mother worked together in girl scouts. Do you know how to contact him? Mike McClelland is trying to get some history of the Glen Iris neighborhood and I thought that Mike Cochran might have some insight on that since he lived in Glen Iris Park. I'd appreciate any help you can give. I work at O'Neal Steel with Fred Busby; I "catch" him a lot of times at the web site. :) Again, thanks for all your hard work.- Charlene Hood Holmes, Class of '61, CHH422@aol.com

04/24/01 It is always fun meeting old friends and classmates. Looking forward to the April reunion. 4/13/01 Where are my classmates? - Helen Shunnarah Mills , '59, HES4353@aol.com

4/13/01 Howdy classmates from Texas. I recently had a visit from a classmate of mine that I met while living in Wheaton, IL. I told him what a great event our 36th class reunion was. I am now trying to get my "Yankee" classmates to get off their northern butts and do the same. I sincerely hope that we have another get-together in the not too near future. You might want to lock your doors and windows on 4/27/01 and 4/28/01, as my older Sister, Lynne Lewis '61, is coming to her reunion and I am trying my best to attend. I understand anyone's invited, so maybe I will see some of you "younger" party crashers there. My email address is wlewisiv@yahoo.com. Please drop me an email. - Warren "Dee" Lewis IV, '64, wlewisiv@yahoo.com

04/11/01 I just discovered your site the other day and registered my name. My sister, Patty Letchas York, is listed in the year 1967 but the State is not. She lives in California. Also, my half-brother, Robert (Bobby) Brown graduated from Ramsay in 1960. He is not listed and I wanted to have him added to the deceased list. He died in 1996. Thank you. Anthea Letchas Rose, Class of 1971, barose@pacbell.net

02/28/01 Dear Ramsay Alumni, In addition to the children & grandchildren listed above, I have two great grandchildren. They are Jake & Alex Blumenfeld-they live in Atlanta. I'll bet I'm the oldest Ramsay graduate to surface-actually my daughter turned me on to this web site. Would love to hear from any of my old classmates that might still be around. Fondly, Dan Isenberg Class of 1937, danmolly@juno.com

02/06/01 Hi All, Keep enjoying this website. Told my cousin, Barry Hertz '68 about this and he actually followed through and posted a message. My brother, Barry Isenberg, '57, however did not. His e-mail is dri@digitalexpress.com. He's a retired dentist, living in Punta Gorda, Florida. Know he would like to hear from some of his old classmates. Does Jeanie Strubel have an e-mail address? If so would some please forward it to me. I think the class of '63 needs to have its' own reunion! Let me hear from you if you agree. The older I get, the more I miss my B'ham roots! Keep in touch, Jan - Jan Isenberg Blumenfeld, '63, mikie@netrox.net

01/01/01 " DON'T MEAN NOTHIN' "... us Grunts would mutter, perhaps about the death of a best buddy, or any Marine for that matter, the lack of mail, the lack of decent smokes, drinks, and snacks at the PX when we came in from the "BUSH, " the absence of some clean socks and utilities, the sudden loss of your Lieutenant, or the always dreadful " DEAR JOHN " from your NUMBAH ONE GIRL back in " THE WORLD, " when of course in all actuality, it meant EVERYTHING. The above is for / to all the Ramsay classmates who served their country in Viet Nam, especially FRED BUSBY, ( God bless and get well soon. ) WAYNE GARNER, ( Once a Marine always a Marine. ) BRIAN ALLOWAY, CHARLIE SPENCER, and JIM REDDOCH. ( Sir, I remember running into you at the DaNang Air Base, Feb. ' 68. ) To my fellow VETS, I say, never forget those TIMES, for it is THAT which made us what we are today. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all and above all else, " WELCOME HOME!! " If you were THERE, you will understand the above, if you were not, you never will. Semper Fi, Tiny Barnes ( Sgt. USMC ) - Wayne "TINY" Barnes, '65, Barnesgolf@aol.com
